The tech giant announced a new AI mode for its search engine that includes a chatbot-like feature that enables users to ask questions about anything and get answers written by Google’s AI models. What it means to “Google” something might soon change dramatically.

Google's new chatbot-style AI Mode search experience, previously an experiment, is launching for US users. Publishers and marketers will have to adjust their search strategies once again.

Specifically, Google says AI Mode will be able to answer “your toughest questions” and can be used to go more in-depth, asking follow-ups and providing “helpful web links.” AI Mode is based on a custom version of Gemini 2.
