The people unaccounted for are from Kwigillingok, one of the communities devastated by the remnants of Typhoon Halong.
The remnants of Typhoon Halong tracked farther east than expected, slamming into the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta coast early Sunday morning. Officials said Sunday afternoon that the hardest-hit communities appeared to be Kipnuk, Kwigillingok and Napakiak.
The remnants of Typhoon Halong have devastated Western Alaska's Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, leaving 20 people unaccounted for in Kwigillingok and forcing families to evacuate as homes were swept off their foundations by record flooding, according to Alaska Public Media.
