The judge, Beverly Cannone, granted a joint motion late last year from both prosecutors and Read’s defense to delay the second trial from its original start date of Jan. 27. In that motion, they asked for an April 1 trial date, but when Cannone granted the motion she asked both sides to offer a new schedule for the case.

A judge will hear continue to hear arguments today about whether an emergency room physician should be allowed to testify in the Karen Read trial.

"Certain materials being provided as discovery in this case may be evidence in an unrelated pending criminal case," the prosecution wrote.

At issue at Tuesday's hearing is a piece of expert testimony prosecutors are seeking to exclude from Karen Read's retrial.
