The ongoing Starbucks union workers' strike has now expanded to a dozen states, union representatives confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday.

The walkouts launched by Starbucks (SBUX) workers pushing for better working conditions and wages are ramping up to reach dozens of stores and several major metro areas.

A strike at Starbucks will expand to over 300 U.S. stores on Tuesday, with more than 5,000 workers expected to walk off the job before the five-day work stoppage ends later on Christmas Eve, the workers' union said.
