Who Is Clayface in DC? Batman Villain's Powers Explained - MSN
Clayface is a recurring Batman villain identity used by multiple individuals in DC Comics. The first Clayface, Basil Karlo, debuted in Detective Comics #40 (1940), created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.
Unlike Karlo, in the comics, Hagen is a treasure hunter who is transformed into Clayface after encountering a radioactive pool of protoplasm. "Clayface" hits theaters September 11, 2026.
Since his debut in Detective Comics #40, at least seven different characters in the DC Universe have adopted the Clayface identity, each with unique and sometimes interconnected backstories.
