On July 28, the head of HBO's drama series and films department confirmed the fourth season while praising Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes for creating another prime example of “'can't-miss it' entertainment," this time set in 1880s New York and starring the likes of Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, and Cynthia Nixon.

HBO has officially greenlit The Gilded Age season 4, two weeks ahead of the season 3 finale, as per a report from Variety dated July 28, 2025.

“ The Gilded Age ” has been renewed for Season 4 at HBO, Variety has learned. The renewal news comes as the period drama has aired six of the eight episodes in its third season. The Season 3 finale is scheduled to air Aug. 10.
