North India is reeling from heavy rainfall and plunging temperatures, with the IMD issuing a hailstorm alert for Delhi and surrounding areas.

There was moderate to heavy rainfall in Delhi and surrounding areas on Friday, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert for Delhi,

Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana are expected to see severe cold temperatures and heavy rainfall, according to the weather service. The districts of Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh are under an orange alert,

Haryana's temperature dropped in several districts after the rain and hailstorm. Chandigarh saw its maximum temperature recorded at 15.9 degrees Celsius.

An 'orange' warning was issued in Delhi after rain lashed several parts of the national capital and adjoining areas on Friday. The rain is expected to continue in the city.

The IMD has predicted cold day to severe cold day conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh on December 27 and 28, along with thunderstorms in Delhi and other regions

The IMD has forecast a further drop in temperatures across the Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan regions over the next two days. Residents in the affected regions have been advised to prepare for colder conditions as the mercury dips further.

Temperature in Delhi stood at 13 degree Celsius at 7:23am as the weather department forecast heavy rain and strong winds for December 27th and 28th.

Coldwave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh on various days.
