Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke after Indian and Pakistani authorities said there was no firing reported overnight along the heavily militarized region between their countries.

The military operations chiefs of India and Pakistan will discuss on Monday the next steps for the nuclear-armed neighbours after a ceasefire returns calm to the border, following their fiercest fighting in nearly three decades.

"Where India appears to have had a clear edge is in its targeting of Pakistan's military facilities and airfields, as the latter stretch of fighting shifted from symbolic strikes and shows of force to attacks on each other's defence capabilities,” the report stated.
