Both the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants were willing to offer Stafford more than $100 million over the next two seasons, according to Breer. Stafford instead agreed to a two-year, $84 million deal in order to remain with head coach Sean McVay and the Rams.

While he is technically under contract with the Rams through the 2026 season, Stafford has given mixed signals regarding his long-term playing future. He openly contemplated retirement after each of the last two seasons, but, prior to the 2024 campaign, Stafford said that he hoped to play for " three or four more seasons ," or roughly until age 40.
