A helicopter crash in Alaska resulted in the death of a Plymouth scientist, Shiloh Schulte, and pilot Jonathan Guibas. Schulte's work significantly aided shorebird conservation efforts. The crash cause is under investigation.

Shiloh Schulte, 46, held a doctorate degree and lived in Kennebunk, Maine, where he previously served on the town’s select board.
