Zoe Saldaña told People on the red carpet for Disney and Pixar’s “Elio” that her Oscar statue, which she won earlier this year for her supporting turn in the Netflix musical drama “Emilia Perez,” is transgender.

Saldaña won her first Oscar for "Emilia Pérez" in the role of a woman who assists with a criminal leader's gender transition.

In contrast to the movie's failed attempt to uplift the trans community, Zoe Saldaña is doing her part to celebrate them with her Oscar statuette.
