King Charles and Queen Camilla, who have made Christmas morning mass at Sandringham Church an annual tradition, were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

It’s been a year of seismic upheaval for the royal family; in February, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. Just a month later, the Princess of Wales made the decision to go public with the news that she was receiving preventative chemotherapy for cancer.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined their parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, for the traditional Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham amid what the Prince of Wales previously described as a ‘brutal’ year following the Princess of Wales’ and King Charles’ cancer diagnoses.

King Charles III and Kate Middleton both announced this year they have cancer. Middleton revealed in September that she completed chemotherapy treatment.
