Tropical Depression "Romina" is no longer directly affecting Kalayaan Islands but there is still a chance for its intensification into a tropical storm within the next 12 hours, the state weather bureau said on Monday.

Signal No. 1 remains raised over the Kalayaan Islands as Tropical Depression Romina is expected to intensify into a tropical storm within the next 12 hours.

As of 5 p.m., the center of Romina are over the coastal waters of Rurok Island, Kalayaan, Palawan outside the Philippine area of responsibility moving moving northward at 35 kilometers per hour (kph).

Tropical Depression Romina is moving northwestward slowly away on Monday morning and is no longer affecting Kalayaan Islands in Palawan, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

The state weather bureau, PAGASA, raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the Kalayaan Islands on Sunday, December 22, as Tropical Depression Romina continues to move north northeastward toward the Southern Kalayaan Islands.

Tropical Depression Romina was spotted over the coastal waters of Gomez Reef, Kalayaan, Palawan as of the 8 p.m. bulletin Sunday of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
