T adej Pogačar descended the Mont Ventoux on Tuesday evening with his overall Tour de France lead intact after successfully resisting Jonas Vingegaard's fiercest climbing onslaught to date in this year's race, and with another achievement - the record time for the ascent of the 'Giant of Provence' - also added to his already massive palmares.

Tadej Pogačar may not have won Stage 16 up Mt. Ventoux, but he did earn himself the crown. The Strava crown, that is. With a time of 53:47, the man in yellow is now the KOM holder of the verified 20.74km Strava segment from Bédoin to the weather tower atop one of cycling’s most iconic climbs.

Valentin Paret Peintre triumphed on Mont Ventoux to become the first home rider to win a stage at this year’s Tour de France while Tadej Pogačar consolidated his overall lead on Tuesday.
