Savannah Guthrie is not related to famous folk singer Arlo Guthrie, and is the daughter of Charles and Nancy Guthrie, with the latter reportedly kidnapped.

Guthrie said during her trip that she visits Vermont frequently to see her older brother, Lt. Col. Charles Cameron "Arlo" Guthrie, who is now retired from the Air National Guard.
