Mitsubishi is recalling 39,711 Lancer and Outlander vehicles from the 2008 and 2009 models year to fix a faulty brake booster check valve.

The brake booster is an important piece of the stopping force puzzle, used to multiply force supplied by our own legs.

A line is then routed from the intake manifold to the brake booster, through a one-way check valve. The engine's vacuum acts on the diaphragm, providing assistance when the brake pedal is depressed.
