The Bruins have been off since Saturday, when they held off the visiting Carolina Hurricanes, 2-1. The Islanders earned a dramatic win Sunday afternoon, when the hosts scored twice in the final 67 seconds of the third period to stun the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2.

Saturday’s 1 p.m. puck drop marks the first time the teams have met this season. BOSTON — Behind a terrific bounce-back effort by Jeremy Swayman and a strong start to the third period, the Bruins earned one of their best wins this season. The Hurricanes came in leading the NHL in scoring, but Swayman kept them off the board until late. He made 27 saves in the 2-1 win as Boston improved to 7-7-0.
A couple of rookies came up big for the Boston Bruins on Sunday. David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist, scoring the winner on a nice centering pass from Carl Soderberg at 4:23 of overtime and the Bruins earned a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
