More than 1,000 people in the north Raleigh area have been affected by power outages. In the Lead Mine road area Duke Energy shows 695 people are without power. Further north along Six Forks Road

RALEIGH, N.C. ( WNCN) — As the storms continue to move through parts of the state, Duke Energy crews are ready to respond.

Thousands of power outages have been reported across WAVE Country as Sunday’s winds continue to knock down power lines.

Around 4,000 Duke Energy customers in Shelby County are without power, with the cause of the outage still unknown and an estimated restoration time of 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Duke Energy is investigating an outage at a substation in Mocksville.

Duke Energy now has an estimated time for power to return in New Whiteland. Power is expected to return around 4 p.m., after being out since before 9 a.m. The outage occurred because a semi truck crashed into a ditch on Tracy Road between U.

Duke Energy crews are anticipating widespread power outages as Monday's storm system could bring strong winds and the potential for tornadoes.
