Chihuahua state police investigators have made an arrest in connection with an arson attack that injured five people when extortionists set fire to a small mom-and-pop grocery shop in Juárez. Investigators with the anti-extortion unit arrested 38-year-old Edwin R.
Investigators with the Agencia Estatal de Investigación detained 38-year-old Edwin R., also known as Michael G., on Thursday and charged him with aggravated extortion. Prosecutors allege he was part of the crew that torched the shop after the business refused to pay protection money, according to the El Paso Times.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has issued a firm directive to all police formations and operatives, warning against illegal detention, meddling in civil matters, and extortion.
