BOYNE CITY, MI – One person is dead, and a firefighter is suspended after a crash in Northern Michigan on Monday, WPBN/WGTU reports.

A small private jet carrying NASCAR driver Greg Biffle crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Thursday.NASCAR issued a statement on the death of the 55-year-old, “who became known in his later years for his humanitarian work.

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal crash involving eight vehicles. Emergency services were called to the Nuthall Road junction with Western Boulevard in Broxtowe on Tuesday after a car crashed into the back of a queue of cars at a red traffic light.

According to a social media post from Leon County Emergency Management, the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. along northbound I-45 at the 178 exit in Buffalo. The post Thursday morning said the interstate has been closed since then, and traffic is backing up to at least Centerville. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

Police on Wednesday identified the driver of the school bus that hit and killed a 5-year-old student in Standish on Tuesday. The driver was 64-year-old Lori Ann Merrifield, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. She has not been charged in connection with the crash that killed kindergartener Simon Gonzalez.

The Virginia State Police announced Monday that it was investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old North Carolina man Sunday.
