Google is cutting the price of its Google Meet video conferencing app all the way down to “free.” All you need to access it is a Google account—not a pricier G-Suite subscription, like before.

Google Meet app is not available for Windows 11/10, but Google has released a web app for its voice and video calling service. Install it using the Edge or Chrome browser.

It works as a web app in a desktop web browser, and it’s also available as a mobile app for Android and iOS. Meet is free to use if you have a Google user account, such as a Gmail account.

The original Google Meet app is officially done on Android devices. A pop-up now encourages users to download the latest version with new features like reactions and direct calling.

Google has announced that users can now find, install and use third-party add-ons directly within Google Meet.

With Google Meet and Chat available as a pre-install on the Chromebook platform, the apps will be getting a lot of free publicity. At least for those who buy a new Chromebook after this launches.
