Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals
Digest more
The Cardinals fell into a tie with Cincinnati for third place in the NL Central, seven games behind the division-leading Cubs.
A collision at first base led to a spat between the Cardinals vet and a Brewers player — and a fiery postgame rant.
St. Louis (37-35) was unable to salvage a split of its four-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers (39-34), dropping the series finale 3-2 at American Family Field.
Masyn Winn led off the game with a two-strike single to center and, after Ivan Herrera followed with a walk, he scored on Alec Burleson's seeing-eye single up the middle. The Brewers defense helped quell the rally, with Jackson Chourio throwing out Herrera at third on the play, and Quintana escaped without further damage.
