College football rankings: Updated NCAA Top 25 polls after Miami, Ole Miss losses in Week 8
A rankings shakeup is afoot, as Miami, Texas Tech, Ole Miss and others were dealt their first losses over the weekend
Alabama replaces Miami as a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff based on The Associated Press Top 25 released Sunday and Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and BYU are on the mock bracket for the first time. Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M and Alabama would be the top four seeds as the Nos. 1-4 teams in the AP poll.
7. Vanderbilt (17): As we mentioned earlier, history is set to be made as Vanderbilt will almost certainly set a new school record for highest-ever AP Top 25 poll ranking. The ceiling for Vanderbilt's rise will be Alabama, the only team that it's lost to this season, but the floor is LSU's previous ranking just on the outside of the top 10.
Two top 25 teams played on Friday night. No. 2 Miami (FL) hosted Louisville in an ACC game, and No. 25 Nebraska traveled to take on Minnesota in a Big Ten Conference showdown. Surprisingly, both teams suffered losses in a pair of big upsets in Week 8.
