Patriots-Ravens was picked as the flex in a week that has a number of other big games. Significant matchups around the league that week also include the Packers at the Bears, Jaguars at the Broncos, and Buccaneers at the Panthers (there's also a Rams-Seahawks matchup, but that is already in primetime as Thursday Night Football).

NFL schedule Week 16 changes: Patriots-Ravens flexed into Sunday night, replacing Bengals-Dolphins
The NFL has made a change to the Week 16 schedule. The New England Patriots ' Dec. 21 road game against the Baltimore Ravens has been flexed into the Sunday night spot, while the Cincinnati Bengals ' showdown in Miami against the Dolphins has been moved from Sunday night to a 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Just as everyone predicted at the beginning of the season, the New England Patriots are 11-2 and are poised for a deep playoff run. Powered by one of the league
The Broncos’ four remaining opponents feature three teams with a winning record plus the three-time reigning conference champions. Their remaining strength of schedule stands at .635, making it one of the hardest remaining slates in the league.
If the Patriots get by the Bills in Week 15, they'd clinch the AFC East. However, even if New England falls to Buffalo, their remaining schedule is more than favorable. Regardless of whether they lose, the Patriots have positioned themselves for a great shot at the division title.
