A winter storm system sweeping through a large portion of the country has brought bitterly cold temperatures and heavy snowfall to the St. Louis area this weekend.

The St. Louis region is preparing to see several inches of snow blanket the city throughout the weekend. The timing of this upcoming weather is likely put a damper on any plans.

Some areas reported receiving more than others and there is still more snow expected between now and Sunday afternoon.
