Tapirs look like a bizarre genetic experiment that involved crossbreeding a pig with a donkey whose adoptive parents were anteaters.

Chester Zoo welcomed a rare Malayan tapir, an endangered species that grows to be about the size of a small mule with a head resembling that of an anteater.

Starting Monday, guests can see the spotted tapir in the mixed-species habitat where she can be found living with giant anteaters, capybara, and rheas.
