Tyrese Maxey scored 40 points and VJ Edgecombe added 34 in his NBA debut to help the Philadelphia 76ers rally to beat the Boston Celtics 117-116 in their season opener Wednesday night.

While VJ Edgecombe’s historic debut is deservedly getting plenty of praise, the Sixers weren’t edging out the Celtics without the 40 points from their ‘veteran’ point guard.

The Sixers enter the season with more questions than answers, but The Inquirer took a shot at projecting how this season could look for Nick Nurse and Co.

Tyrese Maxey poured in 22 points in the first half of the 76ers’ season opener against the Celtics, while shooting 100 percent from the three-point line. He also put up two rebounds, three assists and one steal while shooting 62 percent from the field.
