As Canada continues to face territorial and economic aggression from the United States, its principal partner, the nation has signed a security and defence partnership agreement with the European Union (EU).

Canada and the European Union have agreed to deepen their security and defense relationship, as Ottawa seeks new partnerships to reduce its dependence on the United States under President Donald Trump.

The European Union hosts Canada for a summit on Monday designed to deepen their already close ties as both face increased geopolitical threats, including a more hostile U.S. president, Russia and Middle East instability.
