Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes allegedly confronted Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler, 38, at his office at Showcase Magazine on Wednesday and covered him with a flammable liquid, the Danville Police Department said. Both went outside, where Buck-Hayes allegedly set Vogler on fire, police said.

A coworker of Vogler's said a man had forced his way into the Danville, Virginia, office with a five-gallon bucket of gasoline.

Investigators say the attack stemmed from a ‘personal matter’ unrelated to his politics or work as councilman.

As has been the case much of the summer, the smoke invasion is targeting the Upper Midwest to Great Lakes. Beyond Friday, smoke may affect more of the Northeast into the weekend.
