A major winter storm across the Southeast is likely to bring at least the chance of minor ice accumulation to part of the Lowcountry over the weekend.
Snow works in from the south to the north starting around 5-7 am Sunday. Heavy snow will encompass the entire region by the afternoon hours on Sunday. There is the potential for snowfall rates to reach 2-4″/hr in localized, heavier bands of snow.
Very light snow has been falling in the metro through the night and that will continue in the metro on and off this morning.
An Ice Storm Warning is in place through Monday afternoon for all of the Western Carolinas and Northeast Georgia. Wintry precipitation onset: Snow in the mountains on and off throughout the day. A stray snow or sleet shower is possible during the day in the Upstate, but more sleet arrives in the Upstate after 7 PM.

ICE STORM WARNINGS have been issued for all CSRA counties near and north of I-20 from 1 PM Saturday until 1 PM Monday. We likely won’t see freezing rain start in the CSRA until Saturday evening.
Several inches of snow are expected this weekend. Saturday and Sunday are First Alert Weather Days.
