Now, a new state law passed last legislative session is paving the way for broader partnership with the federal entity.
Mauro Henriquez, an 18-year-old Houston ISD student and team captain for his school’s soccer team, has been detained by ICE since Dec. 16 and is set to be deported along with his father, according to the federal agency.
The rumors come as both ICE raids escalate and counter protests emerge across the country.
The measles cases at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center were detected Friday, Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to CBS News.
More than 30 Texas companies, including some around San Antonio and Austin, are part of a Pentagon program that Homeland Security can use to build detention sites around the nation.
