The Minnesota House is in disarray, and it’s gumming up the entire legislative session. All 66 House Democrats are in the middle of their third week of boycotting the Capitol in an effort to deny the 67 Republicans quorum and control of the chamber.

The Minnesota House Republicans return to the state Supreme Court on Thursday, asking justices to help them compel the absent Democrats to the chamber, suspend their salaries or impose fines. The justices will hear oral arguments for about an hour in the ongoing dispute over which party will have control of the House for the 2025 and 2026 legislative sessions.

The Minnesota Supreme Court heard oral arguments Thursday morning in a case involving a standoff in the Minnesota House that has dragged on for more than three weeks, though GOP and DFL leaders had reached an agreement Wednesday night to resolve the conflict.
