Bo Bichette hit a two-run homer, Chris Bassitt struck out eight in a season-high 7 1/3 innings and the Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of four New York errors to beat the sloppy Yankees 8-4.

The Diamondbacks traded Varsho to the Blue Jays in December 2022 for Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and he’s signed three arbitration deals with the latter club since then. He’s currently on a one-year, $8.2 million contract.

Aaron Judge re-tied the game in the sixth after Fried’s poor throw, hitting a two-run jack for his 37th homer of the season. Alas, the Yankees’ power surge came with a defensive meltdown.
