A wind-driven wildfire burning eight miles from the Navajo Nation capital of Window Rock has grown to nearly 6,300 acres.

The Oak Ridge Fire, burning on the Navajo Nation near the Arizona-New Mexico state line, has grown to an estimated 1,800 acres Sunday afternoon.

What was initially reported as 200 acres burned on Saturday, the Oak Ridge Fire, 5 to 8 miles southwest of St. Michaels, has spread to over 6,292 acres, according to Navajo Department of Emergency
