Singer Taeil is facing the music — to the tune of more than three years in prison — for a sex crime that prompted his departure from the K-Pop group NCT.

The singer pleaded guilty to a special quasi-rape charge, which applies when two or more people jointly engage in sexual acts with a victim who is unconscious.

Taeil, a former member of the popular boy band NCT, and two acquaintances were jailed in a case that has provoked anger in South Korea.
