Kristie Mewis, an American professional soccer player, has been in a relationship with Australian and Chelsea striker Sam Kerr since 2020 and Kerr was supposed to be part of Paris Olympics.

Kerr identifies as white Anglo-Indian while her father is Anglo-Indian. Kerr said she was around nine or 10 years old when she first witnessed racism directed at members of her family.
