U.S. Olympian Brock Nelson scored his 30th goal of the season in Colorado’s four-goal second period and the NHL-leading Avalanche beat the Utah Mammoth 4-2 on Wednesday night.
Goaltender Scott Wedgewood is back with the Colorado Avalanche after welcoming the birth of his second child. He has been activataed from the non-roster list, while defenseman Jack Ahcan and goaltender Isak Posch have been reassigned to the minor-leagues.
Wedgewood is slated to start Wednesday's road game against Utah, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
The Colorado Avalanche don’t necessarily have a goalie competition at hand right now, but rather a strong goaltender room. Mackenzie Blackwood was brought in last year to be the team’s long-term starter, and Wedgewood the hopeful long-term backup.
