After scoring the first three runs to lead 3-0 through three and a half innings, JMU responded with a three-run bottom of the fourth inning. Maddux Fleck and Eli Steadman each had RBI doubles. Wyatt Peifer added a sacrifice fly.
After JMU held a 17-point lead at one point during the game Arkansas State outscored the Dukes 54-39 in the second half and overtime.
Saturday’s contest was a near duplicate of that game. Seven Terps scored in a commanding 11-5 win over No. 12 James Madison at Sentara Park. James Madison’s goaltending had struggled in prior matchups. The Dukes (4-2) started the season with junior Caitlin Boden — who started the year ranked No. 18 in all-time saves and save percentage.
