The brackets for the Colonial League boys and girls basketball tournament have been finalized. Quarterfinal round action is scheduled to begin on Friday and culminating in a doubleheader final at Freedom High School on Feb. 13. 8-Bangor at 1-Notre Dame GP, 7 p.m.

Two of Southern California’s most storied programs meet again tonight when St. John Bosco (19-6, 4-1) faces Mater Dei (17-12, 2-3) in a Trinity League tournament showdown at Hope International University in Fullerton. Bosco enters as the favorite after dominating the regular-season meeting 85-64 on January 13 in Bellflower.

The 2026 CVC Tournament seeds have been finalized and Lawrence is the top seed in the bracket. Ewing defeated Lawrence in the CVC final last winter. The first round will be on Feb. 10, then the quarterfinals are set for Feb. 12.

The Barons beat the Sea Kings, 47-33, on Wednesday in a play-in game to decide the final automatic playoff berth for girls' basketball in the Sunset League.

But Trenton jumped from No. 3 to No. 2 with that win combined with Ewing’s loss to Camden Eastside. Those rivals are on a collision course for a rematch in the CVC semifinals, which would be held at Trenton on Feb. 18. Trenton beat Ewing in the regular season by 13 points.

Union Catholic, the fifth seed, and sixth-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood have earned byes until the Feb. 12 first round. Union Catholic will face the winner of Hillside and Summit, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood will go against the winner of New Providence at Cranford.

Top-seeded Middleton and No. 3 Eagle each rolled into the semifinals with running-clock mercy rule wins, while Rocky Mountain scored a major upset and four-time defending district champ Boise eked out a win against Timberline.
