Android XR head Shahram Izadi talked to CNET about Google's big next steps for AI, AR and VR, and the company's partnerships with Samsung, Warby Parker and Xreal.

Apple intends to release a pair of smart glasses by late 2026. These glasses will be similar in function to Meta’s Ray-Ban models and the Android XR glasses recently unveiled by Google.

Android XR is still in the early stages, but I got to try a prototype pair at Google I/O: Promising hardware and it should benefit from changing attitudes about smart glasses.
