Memphis football quarterback Brendon Lewis is "day to day" after he left the Tigers' loss to UAB with an injury, coach Ryan Silverfield said Oct. 20.

The Tigers' chances of a conference title took a major blow with a loss at UAB. They'll likely have to win out the rest of the season, starting with No. 18 South Florida this Saturday.

Memphis still has a path to the American Conference title, but it undoubtedly includes winning out. The UAB game was supposed to be the easy one, with much more difficult tests against USF (Oct. 25), Tulane (Nov. 7) and Navy (Nov. 26) looming on the horizon. Silverfield said he's confident Memphis can turn it around quickly.

The 22nd-ranked Memphis Tigers (6-0) visit the UAB Blazers (2-4) for the Battle for the Bones on Saturday, with interim coach Alex Mortensen set to make his debut for UAB after Trent Dilfer was fired on Sunday.

Memphis football knows its opponents for the 2026 season. The American Conference revealed all the 2026 conference matchups on Oct. 14. The Tigers will host East Carolina, Army, Temple and UAB and will travel to face Navy, Tulane, South Florida and Charlotte.

South Florida seems to be firing on all cylinders, while Memphis will be looking to rebound after getting upset. The Tigers surely will have a tall task to take down the current titans of the American Conference when they welcome the No.
