Dak Prescott is the quarterback of the near future for the Dallas Cowboys. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones will have to decide soon whether he feels the same about coach Mike McCarthy. Cooper Rush is making a good case to stay as Prescott's backup.

With Dak Prescott out for the season, Rush has gotten the audition to return in 2025 with six starts and three more to come.

FRISCO — Quarterback Cooper Rush had one of his best games of the season in the Cowboys’ win over the Panthers on Sunday. Rush led the offense to 30 points in the victory, the most for that group since the season opener against Cleveland (33-17). However, fumbles have become a concern.

Cooper Rush and the Dallas offense seem to be rounding into form, although it is almost certainly a case of too little, too late for the Cowboys to make a playoff push.
