The NFL suspended Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch for striking Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster following their game Sunday night, October 12. But instead of accepting his punishment outright, Branch decided again to fight on Monday.
Campbell's immediate apology to Andy Reid and the Chiefs organization demonstrates how seriously Detroit takes its team image and respect for the game, even after a frustrating primetime loss.
The Chiefs had an effective game plan set up to stop Detroit and the personnel advantage needed to execute it. The Lions lost 30-17 to the perennial AFC powerhouse. “I'm disappointed,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said after the game.
All the talk about the decline of the Kansas City Chiefs was apparently premature. With Patrick Mahomes doing his magic and a stout defense, the Chiefs can beat anybody. A convincing 30-17 victory over the Detroit Lions in front of a national audience on Sunday night lifted the Chiefs to 3-3.
And after going through pre-game workouts at Arrowhead Stadium, Branch and Joseph are good to go for Detroit’s banged-up secondary.
