A few college football blue bloods were interested in Carson Beck after he decided to enter the transfer portal instead of head to the NFL draft.

Carson Beck resisted overtures from Georgia about returning for the 2025 season before he transferred to Miami, according to USA Today's Matt Hayes.

Initially, Beck declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he changed his mind and entered the transfer portal instead. While he ended up with Miami, it has been reported that Georgia was the first team to call him and try to sign him for the 2025 season, with the Alabama Crimson Tide also reaching out to him before the Hurricanes did.

The Hurricanes aren’t totally sure of that timing. But they are thrilled to have landed Beck, who committed to Miami last week in a massive transfer-portal win for the Hurricanes — who saw another transfer, Cam Ward, have a 2024 season that could make him the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.

That seems to be the path Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is traversing after the former star Bulldogs QB committed to Miami on Friday, just one day after entering the transfer portal.  Many draft pundits considered Beck a first-round draft pick heading into the 2024 campaign.

Beck, who won’t start throwing again for a few months after having UCL surgery, was the only available QB Miami really wanted.

Carson Beck is taking his talents to South Beach, but the former Georgia quarterback apparently had a chance to stay in the SEC if he wanted to. After originally declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, Beck reversed course and entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month.
