WASHINGTON, DC – Now President Donald Trump’s allies are making a push to cast him as a global peacemaker, claiming credit for the India-Pakistan cessation of hostilities. After trying to broker truces in Ukraine and Gaza which has not made headway for him, this seemed like a victory he can grasp.

The military operations chiefs of India and Pakistan will discuss on Monday the next steps for the nuclear-armed neighbours after a ceasefire returns calm to the border, following their fiercest fighting in nearly three decades.

Both nations have ceased hostilities since the announcement of the ceasefire on Saturday but say they remain vigilant.
