Remains of a human foot found inside a hiking shoe on the shores of a lake in Utah belong to a man who went missing in 1997, according to officials.

Dismembered remains found by a hiker in Utah were found to belong to a fisherman who had been missing for nearly three decades, cops say. In May, a hiker and his dog came across a hiking boot with the remains of a human foot inside on the shores of Fish Lake, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

David White, of Washington, Utah, went missing in September 1997 after fishing alone at Fish Lake. His remains were found by a hiker and his dog in May.
