The U.S. Supreme Court rejected on Monday a request by American Airlines to overturn a judicial decision that found that the company's now-scrapped U.S. Northeast partnership with JetBlue Airways violated federal antitrust law.

The airlines maintained that their Northeast Alliance, focused on Boston and New York, benefited consumers and allowed them to compete more effectively against United Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

The U.S. Supreme Court will not revisit the federal ruling that blocked a partnership between American Airlines and JetBlue.
