The return of Dexter with Original Sin has captured the attention of millions, setting a new streaming record on Showtime. The prequel series, created by Clyde Phillips, explores Dexter Morgan's early days at Miami Metro in 1991,

"Dexter: Original Sin," the prequel drama to "Dexter," debuted as the most-streamed series premiere on Showtime in the cable net’s history.

Dexter: Original Sin serves as a prequel show to the original Dexter that came to an end with the airing of the final episode back on September 22, 2013.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is, as the title says, the origin story of blood splatter expert and serial killer Dexter Morgan. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first series, is again directing this 10-part series.

Dexter: Original Sin debuted on Friday, December 13 with one episode on Paramount+ before its cable premiere on Sunday evening. Episode rollout will continue that way with two new episodes streaming this Friday. This data encompasses viewership from Friday through Sunday.

James Remar played Harry Morgan in the original Dexter series, but Christian Slater has made the role his own in Original Sin, and it's the first time the audience has seen the action through his eyes, in addition to Dexter's, and that is most definitely a good thing.
