Jeff Luhnow made a tone-deaf statement that somehow makes it harder to see him returning to Major League Baseball absent any semblance of contrition.

But over a decade ago, the Astros had considered trading away Altuve for a player from the Kansas City Royals. And on the Crush City Territory podcast with Chandler Rome and Tyler Stafford, former Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow revealed the story behind such trade rumors.

Luhnow hasn't held a role in MLB since being fired by Astros owner Jim Crane in 2020 following the 2017 sign-stealing scandal.
