Dozens gathered for a balloon release Tuesday to honor the life of Kada Scott in front of the Ada H. H. Lewis Middle School in East Germantown. The 23-year-old's body was discovered near the school on Saturday.

Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner said human remains that were found over the weekend were confirmed to belong to Scott by DNA.

It’s not yet clear how Kada Scott died, but a law enforcement source said police believe she was likely killed within 30 minutes of leaving her workplace the night she disappeared.

A real estate developer who offered to buy the property in 2021 said Philadelphia's moves to clean up the site now are "too little too late."
